MSOP is currently seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Special Services Specialist to support critical facility operations at our Moose Lake location. This role functions within the secure perimeter of the treatment facility and is responsible for processing and distributing client mail in accordance with established policies and security protocols. The specialist serves as a subject matter expert on mailroom operations, ensuring compliance with legal and procedural standards related to incoming and outgoing correspondence. In addition to mailroom responsibilities, this position provides cross-functional support to other key operational areas, including canteen services, property management, linen distribution, and warehouse operations, as business needs require. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to operational integrity, confidentiality, and facility security while supporting MSOP’s mission of promoting public safety through effective treatment and risk management. Primary Responsibilities Include: • Operating the mailroom to ensure a smooth flow of mail for clients and staff. • Training, providing work direction, and technical assistance to other MSOP and Special Services employees • Being a productive team player in the areas of client property, mailroom, mail distribution, canteen, linen, supply warehouse, and guest service of the MSOP Special Services department of Moose Lake.
Communication Skills sufficient to explain policies in a clear, concise and professional manner.
Customer Service Skills sufficient to communicate with clients, coworkers and vendors when handling difficult or complex problems and resolving complaints.
Data Entry Performance sufficient to create database records, update entries or create and update spreadsheets.
Leadwork Skills sufficient to train individuals, demonstrate job duties, evaluate performance and establish priorities.
Physical Demands including lifting 45lbs and full physical range of motion to stock shelves, lift and carry property, file orders or deliver packages by lifting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, bending, pushing and pulling.
Spreadsheets sufficient to develop and modify spreadsheets
Typing/Keyboarding sufficient to effectively and accurately complete a variety of reports, letters and data.
Word Processing sufficient to develop and modify a variety of correspondence, records and reports including tasks such as performing mail merges, developing forms and creating charts.

Those crossing Appointing Authorities may be required to successfully complete a physical assessment form, provide education documentation (high school diploma, GED, college transcript, or college degree) and provide documented proof of freedom from tuberculosis completed within the last year.
